The Time has finally come. Welcome to my first Art Blog!

Well its been a while, and I am not a stranger to bouts of no painting. Throughout my life painting has come in bursts of activity and then lulls of no action (probably not the best way to be an artist!). But, this isn't my full time job, which involves the opposite, and myself sitting at a computer all day as a Graphic Designer. I have to go with what comes natural, when I am not feeling inspired to paint I have to take a break. I also need my own space to lay things out and have it ready for me or it just wont happen.

So today, after moving into our newly built home in April, and having my own room to create, I pulled out the paintbrush! Although I did procrastinate a bit (I think the fear of failure tried to creep in) I just pushed on and got a rhythm which I am really pleased about.

I continued on with the Banksia painting I had started many moons ago. I am always drawn to the natural world, nature and the drama and colours that it creates. While it has some realism to it, it also has abstract, which I am particularly drawn to. I love to create large colourful abstract paintings that instantly brighten up a room and give it energy and life! Sometimes it is just abstract, sometimes realism, but always bright colours!

“I have always been fascinated and drawn to nature. Going for a walk along the beach or bush brings me a sense of peace. Creating this energy, shapes and colours onto canvas is what excites and inspires me”

For me I know I will start painting again, when it starts to occupy my mind and I begin brainstorming and thinking about painting and what I can paint. Sometimes I am inspired by colour, a particular shape that nature has created or an emotion I am feeling. This emotion can normally be circled back to something in nature.

So welcome to my Art Blog and thank you for reading. I'm not sure what it will include, but stay tuned! I am happy to hear suggestions of what you'd like to hear about and processes that you go through when painting too. You can also keep up to date with my work and this paintings progress on Facebook and Instagram.
